The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990. The A-D-A gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age and religion.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is defined as trauma resulting in an injury or damage to the brain caused by an external physical force such as from a blow to the head, striking the head on a hard surface, a fall, car accident, or a gunshot wound to the head.
The State Council for Persons with Disabilities accomplishes its legislative mandate, mission, and goals through commissions and committees to ensure that Delawareans with disabilities have equal access to programs and services.
