State Council for Persons with Disabilities

Listen

Dear State Council for Persons with Disabilities,

Bob Maichle and Christine Jock confirms that Mr. Joseph Kokoszka of C & K Builders LLC has carried out the Residential Project Middletown, DE 19709.

Mr. Kokoszka has successfully completed the work in accordance with the contractual conditions, specifications and schedule.

Project Composition:

  1. Bathroom demolition and renovation including complete shower demolition to replace leaking plumbing and tile from previous construction. Shower was gutted, new plumbing installed, and new tile replaced in shower along with new plywood and tile bathroom floor. Grab bars placed at correct height in shower area and updated bathroom door header on load bearing wall to comply with New Castle County Code. (Door and frame were modified by previous contractor) Repainting of entire bathroom complete. **Walk in bathroom shower with handrails makes it possible for Chris to take a shower without causing additional discomfort climbing over a bathtub. The grab bars help with safety and Chris keeping steady balance. The shower floor renovation now slopes to the drain properly so there is no standing water on the shower or bathroom floor causing a slip and fall risk.**
  2. French door with screen replaced sliding glass doors per renovation plan. French doors with finishing framework completed. **The French doors now allow Chris easy access to/from the porch with minimal or no assistance.**
  3. Five-foot-wide platform ramp installed on existing porch concrete pad. Platform is flush with French door opening and slopes down to concrete landing at newly installed porch door opening. Grab bar from landing to landing installed on the house. **Chris is able to walk directly out of the house onto a level platform and onto the porch or out to the ramp. The handrail installed helps Chris maintain her balance while using the porch ramp.**
  4. Four-foot-wide ramp from porch was completely disassembled and a rebuilt ramp five feet wide with new footers and post was completed. ADA compliant handrail added to the entire length of ramp. The end of the ramp meets newly installed concrete pad. The concrete flows continuously leading to driveway. **Chris has full access from the porch all the way to the driveway now. The exterior ramp is wide enough for a wheelchair or walker and the continuous handrail from end to end makes it possible for Chris to always hold on. The concrete has a mild slope to prevent standing water for Chris's safety*

During the construction stage, Mr. Kokoszka / C & K Builders LLC team has shown a superior degree of proper planning, coordination, safety and quality workmanship.

Mutual respect and professionalism with Mr. Kokoszka and his team marked the achievement of this project. Their great degree of dedication towards the project completion is an understatement.

We certify their professional credibility and we highly recommend them for possible State Council for Persons with Disabilities and TBI Fund opportunities in the future.

Our gratitude to SCPD and C & K Builders LLC!
